Southside Child Development center is proud to announce it has received a "3 Star Rating" by the Department of Social Services, becoming one of only two centers in the Richmond area to have received such an honor. The rating scale is based on teacher to staff ratio, teacher education, and curriculum implementation among others. Congratulation Southside for a job very well done!
Bright, sunny classrooms are full of areas for imaginative play! Classrooms divided into age groups help ensure that each child receives the most developmentally appropriate activities and instruction.
Play areas allow children to role play and explore activities such as basic household chores, including ironing, cooking, sweeping and taking care of "baby", where they learn so much through imitation.

Developmentally appropriate toys are in each classroom, where the youngest learn to pour and fill cups with sand, string colorful necklaces, and share building blocks. Older children sort letters and puzzles, and work side by side with teachers to explore the world of computers. All children enjoy art in their classrooms, with easels, paints and brushes sure to awake the budding artist in any child!
Brightly colored play equipment encourages kids to be - well, kids! Physical activity is just as important to healthy, growing little ones! Slides, climbing toys, and other play areas create plenty of fun exercise for little legs and arms! |
